Daphnia culturing ( my method..)

Hello.

I love Daphnia ( and my newts ). I culturing Daphnia, and for me it's a good aliment, the newts eat very well, and stay very activiously many many hours...

For start my Daphnia "cultive", i catch wild Daphnia...in a known ponds, but it's imprebissible the Daphnia in the field, in the same point it's probably not stay more Daphnia, and big quantities ( normally in spring).





Oh, good day for trap Daphnia ( months ago,..not at present)



I like mixed diferent populations ( and probably species) of daphnia, when i go to one coldest point ( for example in the mountain) i look for Daphnia, and the same in the "hot" regions...i'm only separate, when i have Magna, or when i trap a little Daphnia ( one specie to adult are very little). The normally Daphnia i trap isnot more little than magna:happy:

In my house this is the mini Daphnia "tanK" i have 3 , 1 with sustrate, and 2 no sustrate, I culturing Daphnia all the year, but many times i lost one "cultive". My Daphnia eat spirulina.







The Daphnia are captured stay minimum 3 days at this acuarim, past the 3 days i catch for the newts acuarium.

Interesting post! I long ago that I have been thinking about cultivating Daphnia, let's see if I can convince! I've seen that you obtain great results! :happy: They only eat spirulina? Where shopping spirulina? You use some kind of filter? You use light or why not?

Hello

The Daphnia tank, stay orientated to the south ( maximum exposition to the Sun), in the photo stay in the same place to cactus :happy:

I'm not use, air pump, and termostate.

I don't culturing Daphnia, but find them myselves, or buy them. They're put in a little plastic box, with an airstone, and I feed them... milk. Just a few drops, and you can keep them alive for a lot of weeks

I'd love to cultivate daphnia - I have FBNs hatching as we speak !! I have some in the fridge which I bought from an aquarist and he said they'd keep for a month.

Hello.

My intention is cultivated Daphnia, a "secutity number" of Daphnia stay ever in the acuarium, but days after i catch Daphnia there are a good numbers,and iuse high numbers to my newts, and high density of Daphnia isn't good, the population it's incremented when the density isnt' high, and when you play, with the oscilation level, for example i think it's good, short level of water, and density of Daphnia, incremented of water, and in some days the number are incremented.....

You make it sound so simple! I'm waiting on my shipment of i think 600 Daphnia/Moina to come in the mail. How often do you feed them the milk?
