it's a plant and supposedly it is the #1 live plant to put in terrariums. my mom has one in the house and we don't use any chemicals on them so i thought it would be great. i read up on it and found out it is poisonous if eaten. now i found this a little iffy since a newt might eat it. suggestions???

Fortunately, a newt won't eat it for a number of reasons: 1.) Terrestrial newts only accept live prey that moves, so it won't eat a plant that doesn't move.
2.) Newts and Salamanders are carnivores, so they only eat the flesh of another animal.

I used it for my CFB newt metamorph tank as well. and my babies are doing very well. I suppose babies are more vulnerable to poison. But they do fine.

If you are referring to Pothos as Devil's Ivy then I would not be concerned as while it is toxic to people and some other mammals (hence the toxic listing on sites), it does not cause issues in a number of reptile species that consume it.

I have used it in a number of enclosures with no problems.
