I'm jealous. All I've ever found are the larvae or aquatic adults. The terrestrial guys have evaded me time and time again.

thats awesome, the west coast Caudates are really cool, I hope to get out there some time.

Fantastic, Josh. Thank you for sharing. Dicamptodon really need more coverage on this site :).

I totally agree. They're awesome critters. Akin to tigers.

That's pretty darn good for finding morphed individuals. I'd say you've got it down pat.

well, i think i was more lucky than anything...lol. that or i chose the spots very wisely ;) i found my first aniedes lugubris on that same trip. i have NO IDEA how a. lugubris has evaded me for so long.

Lugs are weird. You can look all day in "prime" habitat and never see one, and then stop along a sidewalk in a residential area and flip one under some landscaping stones. Go figure.

yeah, that is pretty much how it happened for me... real wierd like. i was in PRIME habitat in the oakland hills. lots of downed logs and bark everywhere but not one sal. i found a big log that was half on the road and flipped it. the little guy was sitting on the pavement under this log..... not on the dirt, the pavement! go figure....

john, the dicamptodon photos are posted in the pic gallery. my computer is down and i may lose all information on it. luckily, i have the pics on my photobucket site. i was able to pull them from there.
