Hi all,
I got my axies about 4 weeks ago. The fish store was housing them with giant goldfish, which is why their gills having been eaten off. They are slowly growing back!
I took my axies out of the tank today so I could change my substrate. Sand is a nightmare to keep clean so I have changed to large river stones.
When I took the kids out of the tank I noticed my olive coloured one (Spud) has a twisted body. I don't believe its impaction because there was nothing in the tank that they could have possibly eaten. Can a twisted body be due to some kind of other digestion issue? Spud hasn't been eating as well lately, and will take the pellets but then spit them out again. I feed Hikari sinking pellets based on a reccomendation from the store.
He also has a weird arm that you can see in one of the other photos! He always holds it up against his body and doesn't use it well when swimming.
All the axies had missing gills and limbs at the store I got them from so I am wondering if it was bitten off and not growing back well?
Tank parameters:
Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: between 0 and 5.0ppm
PH: 6.5- this is lower than I would like and my local aquarium shop have been helping me slowly raise it as it was 5.5 prior to this!
All tested with the API master test kit.
