Hello everyone,
I am hoping to get some advise on here for my little wild type axolotl. I have had her for about 2 years. 20 gal long aquarium. Two small low power filters. Sand substrate.
This little girl has always been very active, healthy, and an avid eater.
I went to do the usual partial water change, and notice my axie was not swimming normal. Gills were curled forward, and she was arching her back and tail and opening her mouth very wide. Also some swelling in her cloaca
I have been keeping her in the fridge the last 5 days. Swelling in the cloaca has gone down. She is no longer spinning onto her back. But swimming is not 100% And gills are still forward. I have not tried to feed since she has been in the fridge.
I would love some advise if maybe I should keep her in the fridge longer, or bring her out and let her warm up and try to feed. She still arches her back (as if in pain or distress) and still is not swimming correctly, though she is no longer gaping her mouth, or staying on her back when she does flip. I will attach some pictures.
Thank you in advance.
