Hello. I have a couple of newly hatched axolotls and I was wondering whether I need filtration in the water. They are currently living a container with no filtration. I do water changes every second day and feed everyday. Do I need some sort of filtration?

Also, they are about 3 weeks in age but i can't see any sign of front legs. Any advice would be much appreciated 😃 this is my first time raising axolotls!

If your feeding daphnia thats fine, if your feeding baby brine shrimp , over feeding or even the correct amount your due a die off. Feed once a day and do a 100% water change daily, wipe the tub daily to remove the bacterial film which will develop. Dont water change then feed, allow a few hours before feeding this will reduce the amount time that dead shrimp will foul the water. If you have time clean and feed twice a day thats ideal, you will maximise growth rate and eliminate die offs due to bad water. If thats not possible dont beat yourself up just follow my previous advice. Filtration in a tub on 100% water changes is pointless it just strips the food out of the water column.
