So I thought my salamander had some fungal issues or some kinda weird growth on his hands and Feet. it’s a clear stringy filament coming off. I noticed it once before but then next day it was all gone. But the other day he had that stuff even more so than the last time I noticed that. I was freaking out thinkin I messed him up and his water was too conditioned and he started not eating his bloodworms and hiding from me which he never does. He’s always exciting to see me and he swims around waiting on his bloodworms and scarfs them down. He went into his hide yesterday and he’s not interactive with me like normal. I read somewhere they shed too. Is this true? I got to know what’s going on with my tiger salamander. He’s gotten so big and his limbs more muscular, markings are more videos and his feathery gills are shorter it seems. please let me know if I’m doing something wrong. going To attempt to feed him today and see how he reacts he’s out of hiding now but I’ll test it out and see how he reacts to me today.

Yes they shed, and they generally eat it. Sometimes, you may see small portions of it in the enclosure.

Thank you! Cause I was afraid he was having some kind of reaction to the water conditioner or like maybe some leftover food or poop had caused him to get a fungal skin thing goin on. Whew! I generally spot clean his uneaten worms and poop everyday with a turkey baster and I do 30% water changes every week. He like started metamorphing overnight m. Crazy he’s almost transformed.
