Donations - New Policies

An issue has arisen where person or persons have been trying to commit some kind of credit card fraud (the nature of it escapes me) by donating small amounts of British pounds to the site. As a result, I will shortly stop accepting paypal donations made in British pounds. If you are British and you use Paypal, my preferred currencies are €uro or US$ dollars (preferably the latter). There is no reason to donate in British pounds.

Thank you for your understanding.

Further to the above, I'm instituting new policies regarding Paypal donations:

[*]The minimum donations will be US $5 and 5 €uro.
We will no longer accept donations in currencies other than US dollars and €uro. Donations in currencies other than these two will be returned as soon as received.
If you make a donation, you must write a message at the final screen of paypal's payment sequence in the box marked "Mandatory Message" - it's not optional. If you have a forum account, this is the place to put your username, otherwise an explanation of your donation is suitable.
Donations that don't comply with the above will be returned to sender as soon as I receive them.[/list]Thank you for your patience. Unfortunately this has become necessary due to dodgy payment behaviour by people who have nothing to do with the site.

The donations page will be updated shortly to match this policy shortly.

I am currently in dispute with Paypal. They "chargedback" one amount today and stated that I admitted liability for the transaction and therefore charged my Paypal account for £7.00 (approximately $13). I am understandably irate. I at no time admitted liability for anything and I expressly stated so before they reached this course of action.

I've sent them a serious complaint and I hope they rectify the situation.

My consolation is that under the policies I've instituted regarding payments, no one can make a payment without going through the donations page. Also the fact that British pounds are rejected if received by Paypal. It should be very hard for someone to try to send a fraudulent payment to me again.

I'm informing you all of this because that £7.00 is taken from the money you donated. I've used Paypal for over 6 years and this is the first time I've had a serious problem with them. I hope it is the last.
