Doubt about my newt

Hello, good day to you!
I've had a newt called Neppy for the last year, no main problems aside their alimentation.
They are very relaxed and not really active. They have a space in which they can be fully covered, has some wet gravel and a big rock in which she can stay. And i regularly change the water so it's clean.

There are two main worries, she's (i assume, you might be able to tell me a way to differentiate the gender) usually goes to hide in cave-ish places. I made a sort of bridge to get on top of the rock, but she stays under there for a while. And also likes cramped spaces. Is this normal behavior?
From time to time, i do bring her out of the habitat, caress them a little and get them back in. Might this be stressful?
The second issue is that i'm worried about her diet. She refuses to eat most dead things, or even balanced food, but when i gave her some corn worms she was really happy about it. I tried giving her earthworms, but she's scared of most of them, they have to be big enough for her to not back away from them. What else could i do?

I welcome any suggestions, and apologize if i made any mistakes. Anything info i can provide just let me know.

Lastly, they are hard-skinned, and i can't seem to identify it's species, just looked the article about species and couldn't find a newt like her, any ideas?

Hola Mago, te respondo desde España, Cataluña, creo que tu triton es un Pleurodeles walt, aquí el nombre no científico es gallipato, afortunadamente aquí es el mas común, por ser quizá el menos exquisito, en cuanto, calidad del agua alimentación, caracteristicas de su mantenimiento......etc, no obstante busca fichas o artículos, aquí en caudata o cualquier otra pagina, para asesorarte convenientemente, yo los alimentaba cuando los tuve con trozos de lombriz, si les das lombrices muy grandes entienden que no podrán deglutirlas y no las consumen, aunque suelen devorar cualquier cosa que se mueva,son bastantes acuaticos, es fundamental que le construyas un habitat apropiado para que se desarolle bien. Muchas gracias por la data besos64! Si, lo tuve uj tiempo con mis axolotls en un habitat bueno, pero Neppy resulto un poco agresiva con ellas, asi que tuve que separarlas seguiré leyendo a ver si encuentro otra solucion. Comida inanimada la ignora, pero disfruta pelear con su comida.
