Driftwood (Kienhout) Gives off.

I got a piece of kienhout (driftwood in english) that is half above water.

When water flows over it, it sometimes gives off some sort of white liquid of some sorts.

It looks a bit oily, like you would have when bacteria dies off and the like, and plant matter, but whiter.

I once boiled the wood, but I never had a semi aquatic and semi terra tank, so is this harmful?

Algae grows, and the tank stands for little over 2 months ish now, the newts eat fine, act fine.

Filter is more than capable of filtering the water, since it's crystal clear...
 
I also have this problem but mine is just sat on top off my moss but I'm sorry I don't know what it is either
