I have two Dwarf Clawed Frogs and would like to get an axolotl. Could they live in the same tank or would the axolotl eat them?

The axolotl would have a very good go at eating them. These frogs also have claws which may scratch the axolotl's delicate skin. Putting them together would be unhealthy and would be stressful for them. Hope this has helped.

Simply put No they cannot live together but if the reason you want to put them together is because you don't have another tank put a divider in.

If big enough the axolotl would most definetely eat the frog which would then claw away at the axolotls tummy and cause internal bleeding and kill them both.

If not the frog will claw away at the axolotls gills because they look like little treats wiggling around which will cause stress and lead to death.

The axolotl would eventually eat them.

Scrappa, food doesn't live in other animals stomachs........
The Ph kills them (think thats what Rayson said).

I know you are trying to help but I've noticed lots of your information is incorrect in many of your posts.

Besides the fact that the dwarf clawed frogs WILL become lunch for the axie, the frogs prefer a temperature range of 75-80F (24-27C).

Yeah thats what rayson said but i was thinking while trying to be swallowed and in the mouth/neck area of them I only remembered that it will die by time it gets to the tummy after I posted it,

I don't think this is instant though. The first time I fed mine an earthworm, not knowing I should it it smaller, I watched the worm moving around inside of him for a good 5 minutes. It was pretty gross LoL

Yes, if fed live food, that food will remain alive inside the axolotl's stomach for a short period of time. Since an axolotl has no method of killing their food before swallowing it, the food remains alive until the stomach acids are able to eventually kill the prey.

1. Your Axie will eat the frogs, more importantly if big enough the frogs could
bite off a gill very easily. These frogs are very aggressive.

2. Yes the food will be alive in the stomach for a few minutes. Until it is grinded up
and desolved .

3. I doubt very much that the claws could do any damage to a Axolotls stomach.
I worked for a wholesaler for 6 years and have handled a thousand of those frogs
all sizes and those claws are not very sharp. No sharper and any snail or aquatic
insect that an axolotl would eat naturally. Ignorant owners fill their Axolotl's
stomachs with a tons of gravel everyday and I have never heard of a Axolotl's
stomach sliceing open or exploding from it ( blockages do occur though) We even
know they can pass little sharp fish bones.

4. Naturally a stomach of any animal is one of the stongest organs of the body.
And is to a certain point puncture resistant. It is after all made to grind up food.
It also is made to strech so it can hold more food and not rupture. It even has a
texture of one of those super stretch trash bags.

5. I would be more afraid of any toxins that may be contained in the skin of the frog.
Although I have never heard of anything includeing fish dieing after eating a clawed
frog.

6. I am not saying it impossible to rupture your axies stomach but it is highly unlikely.
Bring on the new thread..My Axolotl Exploded! I Can't wait for the posts on that one.
