dwarf white isopod cultures...

I just ordered some dwarf white isopod cultures and was wondering if anyone has had some success with keeping these colonies? As far as I can understand they need it dark and humid with decayed leaves and brown cardboard supplemented by an aquarium algae wafer or two once a week. I'm looking for more info to stack onto this as well as information on time lines. How long does it take for the colony to become well established once seeded? How many isopods should I put in to seed the new colony?
