Hi
Ive been keeping and breeding Axolotls for about 8years now and have feed them mainly on earthworms and other live food(tadpoles, larvae, backswimmers ect).
I recently moved to a new place which has a compost with tiger worms in it. the two young axolotls i have with me eat earthworms fine. But when i try to feed them tiger worms they just chew on them and spit them out. Even when the earthworms and tiger worms come from the exact same place.
Has anyone encountered this before? and tiger worms poisons? or are my axes just fussy??
Thanks

I have had the same reaction both with axolotl and firebellies they didnt like tigerworms, which is a bummer as the compost bin is full of the sods. :D

Tiger worms exude a noxious fluid. Try cutting them, then rinsing them really well, and then feeding to the axolotls.

Hi Kaysie
Thanks alot for that. Its a shame as they are so easy to make a worm farm with.
