Hi I'm very confused? How can you tell if your morphs are going to have a eft stage. I have seen 5 larvae on the dock at once. But they go back in the water. I have 12 and 7 have morphed. I don't know how's eating. I throw some white worms on the dock. I put bbs in their water and mosquito larvae plus white worms. What would you do?

I just found out white worms can live under water for at least 24 hours crazy

I mean it's really up to you if you want to keep them aquatic or terrestrial, as some people have kept their morphs aquatic with no problems. If you do keep them aquatic, to make sure they don't drown, offer only a few inches of water that has the surface completely covered by duckweed or a similar plant. This thread may be helpful to you: http://www.caudata.org/forum/f1173-...8-difference-between-aquatic-terrestrial.html

Thanks this site is amazing. I can't believe how fast i get answers here:happy:. I will check that out.

If they want to stay in the water, then keep them in the water. Some subspecies skip the eft stage and it will be much easier for you to keep feeding them in the water. A true eft will also have different skin - more velvety and less shiny.

ThANK YOU xavier and chinadog they both have made links so i can find info easy. Plus they give me info often. Slow foot, niels d and rodrigo for all of your pictures and knowledge and hands on experience with these N.v. THANK YOU and many newts and salamanders THANK YOU to. I would have been lost and so would many others without you and this site. I will try to keep my n.v.l aquatic. I have 3 C oriental larvae that probably will have to have eft stage. I dont want to get overwhelmed.
