While I've rejected a Japanese herpetologist's suggestion that I use my Bufo japonicus formosus as food for my newts (and I'm sure they'd be tasty treats), I've adopted his suggestion that I employ them as natural egg sac cleaners

They're actually doing a pretty good job. I'm impressed! The sacs seem much clearer now and most of the tiny worms that were on them have disappeared. Still, I do plan to remove the tadpoles before the larvae hatch.

Wow, that is pretty interesting. so the tadpoles won't eat rom the actual eggshell itself?
