Which of the two secretes less worm-gunk? Do anybody's critters have a preference?

I can only buy Canadian nightcrawlers and they don't seem to have any secretions. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful, I've never seen either European of African for sale.

European nightcrawewlers (D.veneta) produce more gunk, but I prefer them still. They reproduce themselves very quickly at room temperature (16-18C). African nightcrawlers (E.eugeniae) can reproduce even faster, but the temperature needs to be warmer (25-30C) and warmth costs energy when you're living in sun deprived country like The Netherlands....

I'm seeing Eisenia Hortensis called European Nightcrawlers.... Are all these names sort of interchangeable?
