European Salamanders

I have kept amphibians since I was a boy in the 1940's. Currently I keep only European species. I have never kept salamanders: I read that there are 22 different European species. Can anybody recommend a few of these that will be the easiest for the beginner to obtain and keep and possibly to breed? Many Thanks, Mike

The 22 species would also include newts, I think.

If you're only interested in terrestrial salamanders, the obvious choice would be fire salamanders:
Caudata Culture Species Entry - Salamandra salamandra - Fire Salamander
they're easy to keep and readily available.

What other European amphibians do you keep?
