Hey guys,

It seems like no one has posted on here in a while, so I thought I'd share some photos from a day I spent with my dad and my friend Kevin on Pigeon Mountain in Georgia, earlier in October. We ended up with ten species of salamanders that day, and could probably have seen more (we didn't even see two-lined salamanders) if we had searched in streams more. Anyways, here are the photos:

1. A slimy salamander found on a rocky wooded hillside.
2. A very nice cave salamander - these were quite common in limestone boulders on the hillside we searched.
3. The only green salamander we found this trip - found in a boulder which appeared to be limestone with ridges of sandstone embedded in it.
4. The target of our trip - the pigeon mountain salamander. These we our most common salamander for the day; we found about twenty.
5. Perhaps the coolest find of the day - one of two mole salamander found in a dried vernal pond on top of the mountain. Before this day, I had only ever seen one.
6. A marbled salamander guarding eggs under a rock in the same dried vernal pond.
7. A spotted salamander also found in the vicinity of the vernal pond.
8. One of about twelve southern redback salamanders found in the woods on top of the mountain.

Also seen were longtail and spotted dusky salamanders, as well as pickerel frogs, a northern cricket frog, a box turtle, and a worm snake.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who has seen some cool stuff this fall - Show us some of your good finds!

-Ananth

Wow! Roses are red, violets are blue, Sherman's march has nothing on you! You burned it down in Georgia!

Děkuji za přijetí. Hledám tohoto obojživelníka, Typhlonectes compressicauda, nevíte, kde ho získat, nejlépe někde v Evropě.

My axie is acting woerd he was a rescue as stated in a different post he got better and now seems to be deteriorating again...again all tank conditions are OK and as should be. He seems to have some black dapple like pattern under his bottom lip? Is that normal? And his two back feet have a little wierd growth? Almost? Tiny tiny tiny lump. His capillaries in his feathers also appear darker and more visible. Any help would be appreciated
