FEEDING DISASTER!

i went to feed rap and tekno and rap went for teknos front leg insted or the food and tekno started swimming like crazy and rap refused to let go. i grabbed them both and managed to pull them apart. teknos leg is all red and she cant use it. i have sepreated them but what happens to the leg now? do i need to put her in the fridge or just leave them seperated?

leave the leg to heal. keep a look out for fungus and other stuff like that.
 
i agree, just seperate them, keep the water clean and see how things go

ok a white bubble appeared on its leg and at the end of its tail? is that fungus or is it healing?
 
shes getting movement again in her leg but i have this bad feeling that she wont make it. her toes are dissapearing (it looks like she has stumps for legs) and so is her tail.
i dont know what to do.
 
Sarah, if you are concerned put her in the fridge for the time being. Do the complete daily waterchanges. It will give her foot time to heal and grow.

One of our axies had toes one day, then totally disappeared and had a stumpy leg! (she had other probs as she lost colour; her gills turned completely ghostly/translucent white and lost appetite. So she spent a bit of time in the fridge and then took her out after 2 weeks and just kept her in the same container with complete daily water changes and regular feeds prior to waterchanging. This was just to give her time to heal Took about 3 weeks for her to regain colour and start growing toes again.
 
yep shes been in the little fridge all this time. saltwater baths 2 times a day, daily water changes. she wont eat cos of the drop in temp. i just did the last saltbath for today and her tail started to bleed. im still worried about her.
 
Yeah, there were slight blood spots on our leucs tail too when she got saltbathed; but other than that didn't seem to bother her. Disappeared as she got better anyway.
 
the white stuff turned out to be fungus, and her leg is swelling shes in the fridge, and still getting salt baths.
 
im going to take tekno to the vet tomorrow to be put down as shes getting worse every day. shes bleeding from her tail, injured arm, and now from the gills, shes gotten really thin and looks lifeless. all her veins r showing and her backbone is all red. i feel bad that i cant help her but i tryed my hardest
 
That is so sad- very sorry to hear about the poor girl. Is it possible she got infected from his bite?
 
i took her to the vet this morning to see what their fish expert had to say. he agreed that the best thing to do is to let her go.
He put an adult dose of aspro clear into her water, 2mins later she was gone.

Poor Tekno. I hate those sorts of decisions and losing animals is sad but in the end it was probably best and at least she went painlessly. Im sorry for your loss.

wow, that must have been really hard 'cause I remember when I had to put my dog to sleep and I think I cried the whole way their and the whole way back

yeah its starting to hit me now. i wish i could have saved her. i found a yellow rose today and i picked it and put it on her grave. miss her dearly :<
