We have our first Axy, he/she is about 5" not quite sure how old that might be.

I know what to feed it. I just dont know how much or how often I just cant find this info anywhere. Also they're supposed to be quite messy, but there's no poo on the bottom that I can find for 2 weeks.

The amount and frequency of what you feed your axolotl will vary depending on the axolotl's age, size, and the climate. Some need to be fed every day, others do better when fed every other day. Metabolism rises with temperature, so they may eat more on warmer days.

You may need to re-check where you got your feeding information. It is not advised to allow your tank temperature to fluctuate, as constant temperature changes can/will stress axolotls.

Brett --

Axolotls are opportunistic feeders, meaning that they will eat as much food as they can when it's available. However, if you allow them to overeat, they will vomit.

Depending on what you feed them, a large earthworm cut in half or two small-medium sized worms every couple days should suffice.

Yes i know constant temperature changes will stress an axie. All it said was their Metabolism rises in warmer water.

Water temperature is fairly constant, probably lower than the air temp, which is thermostatically controlled at 20degC (theres no danger of overheating in winter in the UK).
Whilst I recognise that they are opportunist feeders, its hard to know how much to feed it. Currently we're feeding it once a night. Also Im slightly concerned that there is no poo in the aquarium.

im sure i read somewhere that it take a few days for an axie to digest its food properly but if im wrong then please put me right!lol.

I beleive that axies retain food in their guts for 2-3 days before passing it. I recall this was also someones elses observation some months ago in another thread.
