my four babies are currently being fed frozen bloodworms one day then axolotl pellets the next. starscream will only nibble the bloodworms and will only eat about two tiny pellets...chauncy and ghostie will usually eat half to a full square of bloodworms...prince ofdarkness however will eat two full square blocks of bloodworm an seems to still be hungry...im not sure when enough is enough...he always wants to eat and since i always hand feed them (or else they dont eat much) everytime i put my hand in the tank for various reasons he thinks im going to feed him and he bites my fingers is this normal? should i feed him more? he follows my hand around the tank and likes to sit on it when i feed him. he is also the only one who seems to be able to smell the food. i have to actually dangle it right in the others faces for them to eat whereas he will smell it when i get in the water and will hunt me down.... sorry this post is so long!

and also do i have to have a light in my tank? it is currently in the corner of the loungeroom with little sunlight on it cause i heard axies are nocturnal and hate light...

lulu - No you don't have to have a light. Axolotls do not like light.

As far as the feeding goes, as you have experienced they all eat different amounts. If they over eat they will throw up.

Some axolotls appear to always be hungry, this is normal.

Your "prince of darkness " sounds like a very aggressive eater he may be ready to move on to earth worm sections. How big is he?

hes about 10cm long what are earthworm sections just worms cut up?

i feed mine worms fully and the worms can be fat and up to 10cm in length and mine eats them no problam
