I have a few questions for my newts new set up. How much water is "NEEDED" for the animal? Now I have him in a 20L as a sick tank till I find out what is causeng this funny abrasion on his neck. Before hand his intended permanent home was a low tech 10G paludarium I had built from scratch. The filtration was very basic, 100% man powerd mechanical crossed with lots of drift wood and other natural effects helping create a natural bio filter. The biggest part in the bio filter was my waterfall wich had created my circulation and surface aggitation and like a "dumb *&$" I placed behind a piece of drift wood that I had secured in place. Well even if I havent secured the pump this way a year and about 1 half of growth is keeping it there anyway:rofl:.

Now Im moveing back on to a bigger tank. I took my old 40G and cleaned it up really good and am now devoting it toward newts. He will probably be in this hospital tank fror a few weeks so it gives me ample time to get a start and have it finished for him when he gets better, kinda like a present!

Well any info and ideas would be great,THANKS!

What "newt" are we discussing here? More details will result in more detailed answers. 40g tanks are as close to the perfect size as possible in my opinion. They allow lots of room for creativity and still leave room for roaming.
