I am currently in the process of setting up a 40-gallon breeder for my 3 young adult axolotls. I have been using an Aqueon filter in the 20 gallon, that I had them in as juveniles, but I am not overly impressed with it. I have no substrate in my tank and I'm looking for a good quality but reasonably priced filter for their new setup. I'd love to know what has worked well for keeping your guyses tanks clean.

Aquaclears are relatively inexpensive, easy to use and reliable. I would grab a an aquaclear 70 and run you old filter in tandem in the meantime to speed up the cycling process.

That's a great idea! Always a plus to speed along cycling! Do you have an opinion on the Sunsun canister filters?
