Currently in the process of getting my 200 Litre (50 gallon) tank ready to move my two axolotl's into. I'm currently using a sponge filter that will need upgrading as the new tank is bigger. Just wondering what everyone's preference was when choosing the right filter?

I'd go with something like an aquaclear cascade filter and a sponge filter.
