Hi guys : )

Had the tank cycling for just over a week, and i finally got some bits together to properly aquascape the tank so i thought i'd share  Got 3 platy's somewhere in there at the moment acting as an ammonium source, and hopefully feeder fish later.

I'm happy with it at the moment, but i think i'll probably add some bogwood at a later date, just my local shop didn't have any that i liked :( .The Stones are all slate, and some other random pebbles i had from my old tank.

I'll take some more pics of it when the axie moves in.

Yeah i was thinking of just getting some black material and putting it behind it, the sticky back fish tank specific stuff is good, but way overpriced when i could just make something : )

Where did you get your slate from? I have been looking for some for ages and ages and can't find anywhere that sells the damn stuff!

Just the local garden centre mate : )

Just go straight outside to the big rocks meant for gardens. I got a HUGE bit the size of my torso nearly for £3.50 which i believe is $6 Aus. Which beats the little decorative rocks sold at my aquarium shop for £3 per tiny fist sized rock.

I just smacked it with a big hammer, to put it bluntly and hoped for the best. The other little bits were from my other tank / in the garden. Most garden centres will have a wide range of slate though :) Just make sure you rinse and scrub it first, and i also filed down the sharp edges ;)

Looks amazing! I would kill to have a set up like this :)

Very nice!
You'll have to let us know how the plants go on.
I cant seem to keep any alive, although I hardly ever have the light on because i dont have many hides for my axies.
I'm planning a big tank revamp in the new year.

Yeah, that's what i'm thinking ...

The plan is to have the light on for around 5hrs a day as s/he has a hide to get out of the way if it's bothering s/he, thought i'll probably add another soonish

I'll be picking up the little fella tomorrow hopefully, if not mid week :)

Sounds like a good plan. Cant wait to see some pics of him/her x

I'm not sure if I've seen it right, but are there small stones on top the sand? I see some reddish bits and some white bits. If they are stones you will need to get rid! If not I apologise.

No need to apologise, your just looking out for an axie

But no, it's some left over fish flake food for the fish in there that i hadn't cleaned up yet
