Flat or bumpy

i know very odd question... what do u think axo's like mere? flat bottomed tank (smoothed out sand/ gravel) or bumpy?

I wouldn't really know but my brothers axie makes little mounds in her tank and sort of digs holes, even though there is plenty of cover for her. so cute.hope someone can help.
guess it depends on the little character you have.lol

I used to have large pebbles along the bottom, and changed them to sand. I think my axies seem to like it better they scoot around and like to make little hollows in the sand to lie in.

I think in the wild they probably have a mix of muddy sand and large rocks. I keep mine on sand with some large (5cm) rocks and two really large rocks (20cm+), but they weren't bothered when I had them on rocks. Mine also dig in the sand. Although I don't think this is for the sake of building. I think it's more that they're digging for food.

i had small pebbles in my tank, and when i switched to sand, my guy spent about 20 minutes, just walking around the tank. it was really funny, because he moved his arms like a pinwheel. BIG FULL rotations. but yeah, i think he loves his sand more. I've noticed too that if the sand hollows out, like from when i add water, he'll lay in the hole. i love my kooky guy!

im guessing sand would feel alot nicer than rocks on their little tummies!!

thanx guys i reckon ill keep it relativly smooth but with some little holes here n their

I laid out my gravel very smoothly, but Bill has completely changed all of that.

He digs up the corners and the gravel is plied up high in the middle of the tank while the edges are low.

We sometimes build Axle a sloping 'beach' area out of his large pebbles. But it doesn't last long - he loves to dismantle it!
