So one of my axolotls wasn't looking too great a couple days ago. He had a slight infection on a couple legs (this axolotl had had this before and it went away). I resigned to clean the tank the next day to get rid of anything in the water and help it heal. However, after a fall at work, I couldn't lift anything for the rest of the evening and had to wait until today (the day after I wanted to clean it) to let the pain subside. I woke up today only to find that his legs are GONE, sort of. The flesh on his legs is completely gone, leaving nothing but bones. I have no idea how this happened so fast or what I can do. Will the legs regrow as long as I can keep him fed? Would I have to have a vet remove what's left of the legs (again, just bones) so he could grow them? I'm at such a loss and really don't know how to help my poor baby. His tank mate is completely fine and has no sign of the infection.

:errr: Please help!

First , I would separate them anyway. I think I would look for a vet. If that is not an option for you, please look here-- scroll down to "health and illness."
