My new axol gordon ive had him for nearly two weeks now, i have been feeding him frozen blood worm cubes and the last few days he has changed in activity drastically.

fir the first night and day of change he was very active swimming around climbing his rock i hardly sor him rest which stated to make me worry.

and today he had started the day by spending most of his time on his back legs and as the day progressed flotad mid tank, when at the bottom hardly touching the ground standing strate leggered, i havent seen him poop so an guessing its just gas?? i have emptied most of the water out of his tank so he can reach the bottom and will hold off feeding him a day or two extra, is this the right thing to do???

Since this is only an hour old I will ask you for more info since that is what anyone else will do in order to make a more informed guess at what your little friend is going through.

What type of tank setup did he come out of, meaning were there small stones or things he could have eaten. What type of tank setup is he in now other than the filter T PVC and big rocks, are there small things he can get in his mouth.

If there is no chance he ate a pebble or stone then I am sure it is just some constipation leading to a bit of air in his tummy. You could do a search about fridging the little guy to help him pass whatever is ailing him. Best part is the fridging will not hurt him even if he did not need it. Fridging is just that, placing him into a container of fresh clean water covering the container and then covering it with a towel so the light does not bother the little guy when you open the fridge for a soda or beer if your old enough. You change the water daily and do not feed him while he is passing the blockage. Be on the lookout for the stone or whatever blocked him up to show in the container.

I have seen mine walk weird at the bottom of the tank and it is very common for them to swim to the top, but not common for them to float in the middle of the tank, at least not to me.

Mine are floating at the top right now. They do it all the time. Check your water quality. If you don't have a test kit just do a 10% water change anyways. Make sure you don't have stones or gravel he can eat. Check your water temps. If he is an adult or a mostly grown juvie feed him some garden worms and fill his stomach if there is any gas a real meal will push it though.

Blood worm cubes for an adult axie is like a grown man eating a small shrimp cocktail. A few fat garden worms is like feeding him prime rib and potatoes. It will help weigh him down.

If he doesn't struggle to reach the bottom, and can do so willingly, it's floating 'on purpose', and there's no need to be concerned. Young axolotls do that.

My Axies love to float! I love when they have their little legs dangling. Gosh they are cute.

in the store he came from they had lager stones as sub, i doubt he has eaten one of those, im using sand as mine, he has done a small poo (about a pee size) thismorning and seems to be lest destressed more lazy again but still not olding himself 100% like what im use to him doing

i have actualy enjoyed him being more active, hes still coming to the front of the tank to say hi when i walk up as he always have done after he lurnt who i am,

its the fact his behavior was such a suden change that bothers me

By nature, axolotls are lazy. They don't move a whole lot. Juveniles move more than adults, and those who are stressed/ill/hunting move more. Other than that, adults usually just lay there for most of the day.

Gordon seems to be back to his normal self this morning, laxing out and walking places insted of swimming when he rests hes sitting low again insted of flotin just off the bottem with his legs stretched out,

this is the activity im more use to seeing from him, thank you all so much for your help!

You are forgetting axolotls don't keep a work schedule. Just cause they are lazy when you are looking them dosen't mean they were not active while you were asleep or outside. Staying still is a natural genetic response to not being eaten. I'm sure there was nothing wrong with him. He was just being a normal axolotl.

I noticed one of my two floating on her hind legs. She was swimming around wuite happily and when she relaxed she would sink. So I figured she's not floating through anything but her own whimsical nature.

I was worried at first but I'm an over concerned newbie. Better to be more concerned and find there is nothing to worry about then be under concerned and worry to late.

My adults do swim when they become a bit hungry, they usually swim to the front glass wall, where I feed them, and if they are hungry, they just swim around the perimeter of the tank. It is probably a good sign to know to keep them well fed all the time, and when they stand still, everything is ok :) Well, ofc, they do swim from time to time also :)
