Floating probs

My axi seems to be floating at day and going to bottom at night (when the lights are out) is this normal??
He is eating fine.}
Tomorrow i am buying 3 test kits, a new better filter, and i am going to start feeding him earthworms.

what temperature is your tank at during day and night/ Might be to do with temperature.
