Floating tail

could any one tell me what it is when an axolotls tail is floating towards the top of the water. iv herd its because he may need to pass wind and go for a poo is this true he isnt doing it alot just a little worried incase it aint that. hes eating fine and dosnt always float to the top always been an active guy and tested the water and thats all came back fine
 
Lee, my babies occasionally do this when their bellies are full and probably need a poo or have gas. As I keep them separate I lower the water so their bum lowers too, if they need it. You could separate all the bum floaters into one container, sorry! , and do the same thing lower the water, it's probably less stressful on them too so they don't have to try to straighten/lower their bodies.

he aint doing it all the time iv keept an eye on him like the rest of my axolotls but the thing is he is in a tank with his girlfrind at the min and shes fine. he dosnt look stressed so shall i keep the water level the same as it is now.like you said it could be because he needs a poo just havnt seen him do this sort a thing untill now.how long do you think it take before he will get back to normal
