A necropsy is where a vet does an 'autopsy' on a dead animal in order to determine the cause of death.

Unless you had a vet accurately diagnose redleg (Aeromonas, Pseudomonas spp.) or hemorrhagic septicemia, you cannot be sure of either.

But this is a great reason why a complete quarantine is necessary when purchasing new animals.

The only time I didn't quarantine a new animal (Taricha granulosa) is when I was given one with a full vet checkup and permission to leave the country (which involves LOTS of 'being healthy' paperwork). Even then, she's still in a separate tank because she doesn't like the setup in the other tank (she's terrestrial while the others are aquatic).

None of the vets here know much about axolotls but i buried madison anyway. Cookie has gill fungus now but i know how to treat that. I am expecting Cookie to die soon as she isn't eating. I hope she doesn't die cause shifter likes cookie :D

Hi Jay! don't give up hope mate. Best wishes with your little axies.

I've just put Cookie back into the big tank. So far no floating but Cookie still hasn't eaten. Do you think i should vary a diet or something

Yes, you're going to have try variety of things even cut up if necessary, to entice her appetite.

She also seems to of got some sort of limp? while swimming and just walking. Its as if shes jumping
