Hi all,

For my noto terrarium I couldn't find any naturally occurring moss in my area so I picked up some made by Fluker's at the local pet store. It is called Repta Moss and it says it is suitable for amphibians.

I've read from others on the site that store bought moss can be acidic, so I soaked a bunch of it in distilled water overnight and tested the resultant solution with a pH kit resulting in a reading of neutral (7.2).

Anyone else had experience with this, good or bad, especially with noto's?

Regards,

Tim

It should be fine. Next time you can save yourself some money and buy it at Lowes or Home Depot in the garden section. I would recommend putting it in the microwave first however. Many manufacturers of herp products sell the same product with a picture of a frog or other herp on the label and charge three times the price. It is all going to break down eventually anyway.

Thanks for the advice. I'll definitely check the places you mentioned before I buy more.
