hello i was just given a fluval 303 canister filter. i was wondering what types of filter mediea and in what order to fill the cannister chambers. the tank is 55 gal. will be housing axies.
Clint - I use fluval 204's on several of my tanks. One of them is on an axolotl tank.
It should have the sponges on one side (my 204 has 4 sponges total), and I use the ceramic "o's" in the top tray and reusable bags that are filled with carbon in the other 2 trays.
Yours is a larger version of this filter so you probably have more trays.
If you have a problem with low ph you could always use a tray for a bag of crushed coral.
(always use any type of lose media inside a reusable filter bag so particles do not get into the impeller)
Also to baffle the flow I took a large rx bottle and drilled it full of holes and attached it over the output of the filter inside the tank.
There is a picture of it down in the axolotl forum.
