Fluval Canister or Submersibal?

I want to pick out a filter for a 55 gallon tank. I use a Duetto DJ50 so I have a little experience with submersible filters. I'm deciding to go with the Fluval 4 Plus Internal Filter 260GPH or the Fluval 304 w/media 260 gph. Any pros or cons on either would be great.

The submersible will produce more heat in the tank water, so my preference would be for the canister. Since most newts don't like a lot of water flow, I think you could go with the next smaller size canister (Fluval 204). For newts, I always go down one size from the standard recommendations for canister filters.

I guess the other factor is easy of use. The submersible is easier to set up, and may be easier to clean out. But it provides less filtration area and more heat.

I just got the fluval 305 for my 56G it is a really nice filter. It doesn't seem to cause much current when the flow is turned halfway down. The only reason I went with a 305 instead of a 205, is they are expensive and I wanted something that could handle my size tank if I ever decide to do something else with it.

I just got the 305 also for my 55 and love it. I have waterfalls in my tank and it was a bit much on full blast but like andy said its great turned about halfway down. I was going to get the 205 but the store was sold out. It also has a quick disconnect that keeps all the water in the hoses while you clean it or change filter media.
