Becareful as these can heat an enclosure up to dangerous levels.

Also the foggers release an electric pulse, I found out the hard way-haha! They tend to have a mist and then some water that shoots out. Well I was dumb and I touched that shooting water and zap, a slight shock but more comparable to a pin prick. That made up my mind that I wasn't going to use it for my toads.

Another thing is that it mists so much that I wouldn't have been able to see my pets. There is a new one available that has adjustable levels for the mist. But if these misters are known to cause tanks to heat up I would set it up in a mock tank or bowl for more than just a day and watch the temperatures. We're pretty much going to wait to use ours until we have a pond set up or use it as a Halloween prop.

wow i didint know that they shocked, i need to try that one my self. I think the whole mock tank i dea is a good one and im right behind you on that 1

I doubt that you actually were shocked but instead were "hit" with the ultrasonic field used to create the mist.

I don't know but the instructions said not to touch the surface of the disc while in operation for safety reasons, it did not specify what this meant. It runs on a 36 volt transformer which led me to believe I was shocked. I didn't even get as far as the disc when I felt whatever that was. Of course I read the info after running the device, but it was good I did that because the toads aren't going to stay away from it if I tell them to.

Hi Jessica,
It operates by vibrating so fast that the water is aerosolized. Water is a good conducter of vibrations and at this frequency it can feel like an electric shock if you get close enough. The point where it vibrates can get fairly hot and the whole unit can make the water too warm for comfort.
