Freds legs dont seem to be working...

Hi so my sisters axolotl Freds back legs dont seem to be working

He is a big boy at about 1 year old and 12 inches, he is eating fine and is on sand with some large stones( all larger than his head)

Any ideas on what could be the problem ?
He is in a 2 ft tank which is too small for him now and so will be moving to a larger 3 and a half ft tank in a couple weeks. could it be a lack of space to move properly that has caused this ?

How's your water (ammonia, nitrites, nitrates, pH, etc?) What is Fred eating and is he producing waste? How long has this been going on? Could you post a picture?

If he is constipated, fridging seems to be the suggested procedure. Axolotl Sanctuary But if he's not constipated or showing signs of obvious stress or poor water quality, I'd wait for other input than my say-so.

So if the tank is 2 feet across, does that mean it's only 1 foot front to back? That would definitely make it difficult to move around. Good on you for having another set up in the works for him.

freds tank is is an established tank, he is the only axolotl in there and his water parameters are good, fred is eating frozen fish ( will have to check the kind) and earth worms as he has to be hand fed

Im sorry to say im not too sure how long it has been going on for, he cant move around so much anymore hence the bigger tank but its only in the last couple days we have noticed him having any issues moving his back legs although like is said due to his limited space it could have been going on for longer

Also yes Fred is pooping like the little monster he is lol

When we bought Fred we were told a 2ft tank ( and yes it is 2ft by 1ft) would be a tank large enough to be his forever home but like i said he is too much of a beast and a replacement on the way. Im hoping it may be lack of use and that when he has more space again he will start to use them again

The throat looks swollen, best to check with a vet on this site, think it may indicate a bacterial infection but not sure. Other than that it looks really healthy.
