Hi. I am going away for 4 days in two weeks. I have 2 newts, an adult P. waltl and a sub adult C. cynops. I was wondering if 4 days would be a long enough period without food to fridge my newts. No one I know is capable of feeding them (squeamish with feeding them worms :(). So, if I was going to fridge these two, how would I go about doing so? Thanks

4 days, they should be fine in their enclosures, as long as they stay a constant temperature that isn't too warm. Just feed them a little bit before you leave so you have time to remove uneaten food. When you get back just do a small-ish water change, and remove the waste.

4 days should be okay.... besides, doesnt friding require daily water changes?

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
