I get my first axolotl in a few days. I have everything set up and ready for her. I am wondering what the best frozen food i could give her would be? I have some pellets for a staple food that i will give her every morning but i would like something to give her every other night to keep some variation to her diet. I have some frozen bloodworms. I have found some many mixed reviews online, some saying that bloodworms are great as a staple, others saying it should only be used as a treat. And the same with brine shrimp. So what is the truth? Would a mixture of blood worms and brine shrimp every other night be good? And she is only 4 months old, 4 inches long, thats why i would be feeding her twice every other night. Are there other frozen food that may be good like mystic shrimp? Thanks!

Note: I am living in a dorm room and my roommate is ok with the axolotl but will not allow live worms in the room for feeding, which i understand that they can freak some people out. This is why i am using pellets and frozen food.

Are you able to venture out into a garden to get a worm each day? That way technically you're not keeping worms in the dorm :D
I do feed frozen cubes when I run out of worms. The ones I get are specifically made for axolotls though, I'm not sure if you can get them in the US. Go to your local fish store or pet chain store and check their frozen section, it'll literally be called "axolotl food/dinner".
Bloodworms are good, but I wouldn't rely on them as a staple for an adult. If you can't do the worms and can't get the frozen cubes then use pellets as well. You should be able to get axolotl pellets, if not salmon pellets are fairly popular.
Hope other people have good suggestions for you too!
