Fujifilm Finepix AX200 help.

My dad recently bought a Fujifilm finepix AX200 series camera but I'm having slight problems with it.

I decided to take it for a spin on my newt to see how it comes out, but it is all blurry and unfocused. I have tried it on a several different lightings and also kept the camera completely still but it still didn't work. I am a technology dinosaur despite my age

Any tips would be appreciated.
