Hello! I’m new to the community, But last week I got a new axolotl & a day after briught it home it started to develop a fuzz on its limbs. Only the limbs . I cycled the tank for a week beforehand and tested the water daily to make the parameters were good. There is no gravel or sand In his tank. So I don’t think he’s impacted unless he sawallowed gravel from the shop he came from. Since, I’ve binned him in a hospital tub & have given him multiple tea baths for 10-15 mins. Cleaning his hospital bin in between each switch. I change the water 2x a day & he hasn’t seem to get better at all. I have given him one light salt bath for 10 mins and none of the fungus has gone away or fallen off. And now his limbs are also quite red. I’m not feeling too hopeful for him. He seems quite grim. I’ve attached a photo. I’m not really sure what to do.

how was the tank cycled?
what are your water parameters ie.. temperature, ph, ammonia, nitrites, nitrates, if possible kh gh.
have him/her tubbed in cold dechlorinated water with 3.5g/l salt, change water daily.
give 10 min methyline blue baths (instructions on bottle, half fish dose)
make sure water is oxygenated with air stone.
once symptoms improve reduce salt level to 2g/l

He has died. All of the perameters were appropriate levels and he was rubbed in cold de chlorinated water. I didn’t have a bubbler because I’ve literally had him 3 days total.

sorry for your loss

I'm sorry for your loss as well. Did you get him from a pet store or a breeder? I've heard a week of cycling the tank might be inefficient but he shouldn't have died after only three days from just that...I'm guessing he was likely sick before you got him. Also, you said he was tubbed so it likely wasn't the water alone. I'm guessing he was sick prior. Did you get him as a rescue?
