Been tubbing him for about 10 days now after cycle crashed in tank. 100% water changes daily and keeping temp at around 61 degrees and staying within half a degree when swapping tanks.

He hasn't been eating much, hasn't eaten much since being tubbed, just half a nightcrawler last monday until he ate some blood worms night.
Thought his gills looked fuzzy when I checked on him this morning to put in an Indian almond leave (I sanutized it by boiling it for a few minutes and letting it dry over night.

Took these pictures of him this evening.

Should I try a tea bath or a salt bath? Or am I just freaking out for no reason.

Thanks

it’s difficult to see if any fungus is still present- but if you see anything thats even suspicious, continue tea bath and IAL treatments :)

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
