I just discovered that my little Axie has like a "zit" on the left side of his mouth. It´s the exact same colour as his skin, and aprox as big as his eye. It has been there since iv´e bought him, so im not concerned. Just checking if anybody know. I can´t upload any images cuz my father stole my camera when he was going to China for work :/

Well if it is fungus just treat it with salt baths. 2-3pints of water for 2 table spoons worth of salt. Twice a day until it goes. There's usually a fast change to the look of fungus after the first day od bathing (well it is with mine) so if it doesn't shrink i dont think its fungus. Might just be a growth they do get them.

Lorie 2 tablespoons is too strong and could burn axie skin and cause more harm than good. (ie peeling skin/salt burns/stress etc...)

Rickard if you do the salt baths, it's 2-3 teaspoons of salt per 2 litres or 2pints of water. And no longer than 10-15minutes. But that's if it is fungus, does it look sort of cotton woolly fuzzy looking?

Our 3yr old wildtypes have little lumps (I suppose they could be zitlike in appearance) round their mouth/lips; I was worried at first as our younger axies don't have anything like that. But as they haven't changed in appearance, size or developed fungus or any infection I am assuming they are at this stage ok. They might have been from an old wound healed over before we got them.

It hasn´t changed so I don´t think that it is a fungus. It just looks like and.. erh.. birthmark!? But not dark, if you get my point. So I think that it is his body that looks that way

It could be an abscess too. Just keep an eye on it and watch for changes.

stike that..i was wrong haha

Well at least it works for my axie haha!

An abscess.. *hmm* do they possess any danger to my Axie?..

I have that site as a "Start-Site" or what it´s called (im swedish *laugh*) and I have red everything(?) on it, but never encountered anything about "abscess".. maybe I missed it..

An abscess is like... a pimple. It's not necessarily dangerous, but if it gives your axolotl a systemic infection, it could be.

I would watch for changes, not just locally, but over the whole axolotl. If it starts to look more red, swollen, or otherwise poorly, or has a change in activity, you may want to take it to a vet.

Ah, yes, homepage!!! Yes, thats it! I hate it when I can´t remember the english word for things. Well, back to subject. Im keeping an eye on it. But i don´t think it´s any harmfull. It looks like, eh.. a "natural lump". Like a little nose, but on his lip *laugh*
