Fuzhongensis?

Hello. I've been aware of this site for a long time, but didn't realize it had a forum until now. I've got a Paramesotriton (named Triton) but I've been having some trouble IDing his species. I'm fairly sure he's a fuzhongensis, but to me he also resembles chinensis. Can anyone shed some light?

In my opinion you have P. chinensis. The yellow spotting and overall physiology is more representative of chinensis than fuzhongensis.

Hope that might help some.

Yeah, the spotting is what lead me to believe he may be chinensis, but since fuzhongensis seem to be more common, I thought maybe I was just mistaken. If anyone needs me to take some better pics, just let me know what you need to see.

Well the belly color is a bit brilliant for chinensis , but then this may be variable.
What makes me think it actually is a chinensis are those yellow dots at the attachment points of the limbs . So far I found this to occur mostly with chinensis alone. also the granulates of chinensis are -at least from my experience- more pronounced then in fuzhongensis. I would go with chinensis for this one.

BTW Juvenile chinensis are charcoal black and have a more reddish belly when they are young, maybe this is a subadult or either young adult ???
