Hi guys,

I am super confused with the genetics stuff, and I'm trying to figure out what kind of babies I might get. I have a wild het purple that I don't know the parentage of, and then a leucistic that was in an all-leucistic spawn, so I assume its parents were both leucistic.

thanks guys!

It's really simple. Genes come in pairs, one from each parent.
So your leucisitc carries a pair of leucistic genes, you wild carries one purple gene. We don't know about anything else yet, but we will know by the colours of the babies.
Assuming there are no other recessive genes in play you will get all wildtypes het for leucisitc.
However, if both parents are carrying a recessive albino or melanoid gene you could get a handful of those too. If your wild is carrying a leucistic gene you'll get some of those.
Once the babies hatch you can post what you've got and we can work backwards.

That is super helpful!!

Forgot to mention my Leucy is also melanoid.

What would I have to breed the wild het purple with to get some purples in the mix?

Awesome! Good to know. Not really planning on breeding anytime soon, just interested in the genetics and hypotheticals.
