I found green salamanders on my trip to eastern ky. I found 6 juveniles and 18 adults. There was a constant rain and the weather was around 60 degrees.

Enjoy

Thanks for looking,

Nice find. I love this species.

Wow, the season has just kind of snuck up. Very cool, KY has some really good populations.

The head on that mander sure doesn't look like any cirregera I've ever seen. Do you have a better pic?

It's definantly a cirrigera. It has enlarged jaw muscles because Its looking to breed. I'm guessing it's very old because of it's size, and color. I'll put up a better picture tomorrow.

How cool to find that many green sals in one trip! That pic you say is a two-lined sal looks from that angle to be some type of a desmognathus sal or a spring sal.You sure its a two-lined sal?

The head does resemble a dusky, but isn't that the "A morph" of a two lined? I have seen bull neck male E. wilderae in my parts that look like that individual.

Its definantly a southern two lined salamander. a very old male.

I have a few more pictures if youd like. i know it looks different but thats because of dulled color due to age and its huge size.

Thanks,
Taylor
