Hi my name is Abby and I live in Margate, Florida. Im 23 and have been keeping newts since I was about 16. I have had firebellies, a california newt, 2 eastern newts (only for a month as I purchased them ill and they became anorexic and passed) and paddle tail newts. It is very hard to find newts where I live, all the pet shops and reptile stores stopped carrying them or just can't get distributors to order them from or something. My local pet store that I used to go to closed down. I know most of you who live in the Broward County area are familiar with Underground Reptiles but last time I was there the newts were out of my price range. I currently have 3 firebellies, not positive if they are all chinese or if 2 are and one is japanese. I also have 2 paddle tails. The paddle tails and firebellies are in 2 seperate 20 gallon long tanks. I have very little space as of now and am considering downsizing but I won't go through with it until I find someone who would be willing to take the firebellies. Im interested in all newts but my favorite are the california and crocodile, or emperor newt. If anyone in my state, or closer to my county could divulge some information on places that have newts or great acquarium shops I would really appreciate it. I really have never met anyone who even knows what newts are or anyone who has or had one so I need to get in on this community so I can take better care of the little guys.
