Hello everyone.
I am Caro and I live in the UK. I am mostly into Fish but have always been interested in Axolotls and got my first one just over 3 years ago. I am now hooked on these little guys.
I now have 5 adult females (leucistics, golden albinos and a Mel) and 3 adult males (2 leucistic and 1 wild) I also have two juveniles (a lucy and copper) that are both looking like they will be both males. I also have 5 very unusual babies that I am keeping from breeding together one of my females golden with one of my leucistics.
All five appear to be, what i assume, Mosaic/Piebald/Harlequin, as I have never seen anything like these. Keeping these guys will bring my total up to 15 😁

I also have another 200 babies from the batch these guys are from and babies from a recent pairing of two of my leucistics. I am lucky that I am able to sell these guys through work.
I look forward to learning more about these amazing animals and getting to know some of my fellow Axolotl fanatics.

Thanks, nice to meet you too.
I definitely wasn’t expecting anything like these guys to crop in this batch of babies, then I get 8 😂. I have 3 I’m going to sell on at some point as I don’t have enough tank room to house them all, I’ve had to free up 2 tanks and I’m getting a new one some point this month, just so I can house them all. It’s a shame you don’t live in the UK.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
