Hello! My name is Tom. I'm really new to the art of keeping axolotls. I am a freshwater stingray expert and I'm looking to dive into Axolotl keeping!!! Any words of advice would be appreciated!!
Also I don't have any idea where to get one(more lik 5) in the new york area so if anyone has any info that would be great.

Hi Tom!

I only recently discovered freshwater stingrays - they were in a pet shop with a massive tank display and the rays were popping their little snouts out of the water. It startled me and I jumped and laughed, scaring everyone in the store. What great animals! Lucky you to have enough room to keep them.

You will find all kinds of information here on axolotls. Besides the informative website, there is the axolotl forum (which you've surely already found), plus the Caudata Culture site with many excellent articles and caresheets.

There is also a For Sale section of this forum, with a sub-forum for USA. Keep an eye on that and you will surely find axolotls.

Welcome to the Forum,

-Eva

Hi Tom, welcome! I'm a beginner myself and I've found everyone here is very nice and is willing to help :)

You may know this already, but I think it's worth a mention that to house 5 axolotls (estimating an adult to be 10 inches) you will need about 900 sq. inches of tank floor space. I took that from this equation from caudata culture

(length x width in inches)/18 = total inches of newt

You probably have huge tanks though, seeing as how you keep rays! Cheers
