I'm visiting my sister, and her housemate has gone away for the Christmas period and left her axolotl behind without any care instructions. It looks so sick and thin and there doesn't seem to be any food in the house for it. My sister has asked her housemate what to do for it and her response was "don't worry about it, it's fine."

This girl doesnt care if it dies on her but this will break my heart. Are there any emergency care instructions for us to try to help it out? Is there anyone in the Adamstown Heights (Newcastle) area in Australia who could take it and give it a better home (we'll just tell the girl it died)? Anything I do won't even matter if I leave in a few days and this girl is still going to mistreat it.

Please help me, I know I don't interact on this site but this poor axy needs help.

Will the RSPCA take an axy or will they just visit the girl once she's back and tell her to take better care of it? I always thought RSPCA was more cats and dogs and horses etc.

If we can get it eating again and it's going fine, we'll probably just make sure she knows she's an idiot, because she definitely takes care of its tank/water etc. It's just that it doesn't look like it's been eating and she left no food for the week she's away.

Someone tell me I'm just being an over reacting fool and this poor axy isn't in danger.

How old is it? (How big?) An adult can be fed every 3 days but I wouldn't want to wait a week.... especially if he's already thin!!
Can you find a bait shop and get some earthworms/night crawlers? Try chopping them and feeding him the pieces. (I'd totally take him home!!)
