Hello. I am trying my hand at a tank with great stuff, coco fiber, and need the recommended silicone for the job. Everywhere I've seen it says use GE Silicone II in Black color for Doors and Windows without the "bioSeal" mold and mildew resistance. Trouble is, I've checked six different places (Walmart, Target, Home Depot, Lowe's, and two True Value hardware stores) and even when I can find black, it all has the "BioSeal" stuff. I'm not sure they even make it without that in it anymore. Is there an alternative in black or any suggestions? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for the advice, but the pet shops here have just clear or white, not to mention the tubes are much smaller AND cost alot more. And I cant buy online because I have no accounts. Any other alternatives?

Write down its ingredients, go to the hardware store and find the same stuff but in black. Most of it is TOXIC until it cures anyway. I found this out with the common ALL GLASS brand at first.

Black aquarium silicone is available on eBay and several petshop websites. If you cannot buy online or mail order, I suggest that you ask someone else to buy it online for you. (Frankly, if you are resourceful enough to visit 6 different home improvement shops, I think you are resourceful enough to ask a friend or relative to place an online order for you and pay them in cash. Also, some of the pet supply mail order places will accept a money order payment, which you can do using cash.)

The only other option I can think of would be to ask a local petshop to special-order it for you, but most shops won't do this, or they'll charge you an arm and a leg.

Regarding non-aquarium-labeled silicone, I believe you want GE silicone I (not II) Windows & Doors, but I've never seen it in black. I've used the clear variety for aquariums and not had a problem. But I hesitate to ever recommend using products not made for aquarium use.
